Library Services

1. Reference/Information
This service consists of personal assistance provided to library users. Reference librarians are available during regular library hours to assist them in their search for information.

a. Literature search
A library user who may want to know what has been published or what references are available for a specific subject or topic is assisted through this service. All available guides, lists, indexes, bibliographies and others are checked in order to produce the needed materials/information.

b. Library Orientation/Instruction
Library orientation refers to helping people be aware of and comfortable with the facilities and the services available, with the location of the collections and with the people who service those collections. Library instruction refers to the teaching of the students and other users on the effective use of the library.

2. Photocopying service
It refers to the photographic reproduction of printed materials. It enhances the availability of reading materials. The hours of service are as follows:
7:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon
1:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

3. Circulation Service
It is concerned with the following activities: charging and discharging of the library materials to the readers and the returning of such materials to its proper location.

a. Reserved Book Service
The library accepts faculty member personal copies of books to be placed on "Reserve" and these are for "library use only."

b. Stack Book Service
Stack books are those that are housed in the different storage areas. If request for these books is made in the morning, these will be available in the afternoon. If request is made in the afternoon, these will be available the following morning.

4. Library Displays/Exhibits
New materials are put on display for one week before these are shelved together with the other materials in the collection. Library displays/exhibits are also done in consonance with the celebration of some occasions.

5. Technical Service
This service includes the following:
a. Acquisition of books and other library materials as recommended by
administrators, faculty members, and students;
b. Organization of materials for easy retrieval of information.

c. Mechanical preparation and preservation of library materials.

6. Bibliographic Service
The library, upon the request of the faculty members, provides listings of books and other materials on selected areas of interest.

7. Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI)

a. Current Awareness
This is an on-going dissemination of information to the faculty and to the rest of the academic community with regard to newly acquired books and other library materials. Faculty members are also encouraged to recommend titles of books and journals for acquisition.

b. Library Reaching Out
This is concerned with informing faculty members of the available books in their field of specialization. They are invited to come to the library in their most convenient time to see for themselves the books/materials being announced.

8. Delivery Service to the Faculty
It is a way of reaching out to the faculty members who do not have time but have the urgent need to use library materials. Ready reference requests are served immediately especially if the materials are available in the library. The librarian would send over the requested materials/information to the faculty members concerned.

SERVICE TO OUTSIDE RESEARCHERS

1. Service to outside researchers is limited to reference/information, literature search, stack and photocopying services.

2. They can be accommodated during library hours from Monday to Saturday.3. Each researcher is charged with the amount of Php100.00 per day, paid at the Accounting Office. He has to present the receipt to the student assistant at the Reserve Counter before a library permit is then issued to him.

4. Researchers cannot borrow library materials for outside use.
